Listening to these podcasts was interesting and new to me. In all the time I have had in ipod and itunes, I have never used a podcasts. It was different and something I think I might look more into for the future. The first one I listened to was SmartBoard Lessons. It talked about why teachers should use SmartBoards and what the benefits are to using them in the classroom. It gave some ways teachers can connect and get help using the SmartBoard. I remember using these in the classroom and I think they are great and should be used more.
The KidCast was one that caught my attention. In this podcast they discussed how students should be doing more podcasts in classrooms. It says that they should create podcasts about series and not just specific subjects. Teachers should teach students how to do podcasts and should teach how to present these podcasts as well. The speaker needs to be the focus and there should be a focus on academics as well. He says that podcasts have a lot of potential since it is more of a conversation about subjects and not just a lecture.
The MacBreak Weekly was interesting. I personally do not have a Mac computer but I still thought this podcast had a lot of information to offer. Something that really caught my attention was toward the end of the podcast. It talked about using a USB drive called iTv. It is the same as an HD Tv but on your computer. It is software and you can watch whatever you want from anywhere you want. It has a recording feature and will record what you miss and then turns it into a video podcast and you can put it on your ipod or iphone. It only costs about 15o dollars. If I had a Mac I would be interested in this because I love my TV shows.
EdTechTalk was next and interesting. It talked about parents volunteering more. Teachers want parent involvement and want to hear their opinions. Everybody had ideas and they should be shared because without people talking about ideas and opinions we wouldn't get anything done. This podcast was geared more toward parents, teachers, and administrators. Overall the podcasts were entertaining and educational. I hope that teachers use these more and more in the future. I know I will look into what is out there more now that I how to use these and what is out there.
