iPods

I found this article about Duke giving their students iPods and then letting them use them to download and listen to lectures. It was interesting seeing how the students who could use the podcasts did better on tests. I can see how this would be too. If you can listen to it as many times as you want and focus on things you may not understand, then as a student you will do better. This article can be found at : http://www.online-artikel.de/article/learning-podcast-for-students-at-the-university-16483-1.html .
I think that using iPods and podcasts is a great way to enhance learning. I wasn't really aware that all this was out here until taking this class. But now I see that by having your lectures readily available to watch and listen to again could be the very thing some students might need. I know there are some classes that I would love to listen to the lecture again. Comes test time, I sometimes can't remember or wish something could be repeated. With lectures online, as Duke is doing, I think most students would benefit from this. Another website talking about this is http://news.duke.edu/2005/12/ipodupdate.html . It says that now with video iPods and things improving that students are getting better at this kind of education. I think it's great that the university provides the students with this kind of learning capability. I think that one day it would be great if all lectures were available for podcast or videocast. Technology is changing and education is just trying to keep up!
