I think Randy Pausch has to be the greatest guy. I read his book about 7 months ago so when I saw this assignment I was excited. I watched about every special they did on him and his life and his book sits in my bedside table. You can learn so much from this man. He helped people every chance he could and wanted the best for everyone. I think if I could acheive a fourth of what he did with his life then I will be doing pretty good. He was one of those educators that I can only hope to become. Randy Pausch is one of those regular guys that is definitley a hero.
He used technology to the fullest. He started classes that revolved around technology. I think the class where they do virtual reality projects is something that people dream about taking. If every university had the funding, then they should all get a class like this. He not only taught how to use and present technology but he taught students how to work together. He wanted his students to succeed and be able to use what they learned inside his classroom in the real world. He technology and education to a whole new level. He started Alice. Which is a way for students to have fun while learning how to use technology. It is now being used in places other than colleges and university. I think it is wonderful that he had a dream and maybe one day my kids will be using his technology in the classroom.
He was using technology before it was even important in education. But since now it is something that is extremely important in the classroom, we can learn from what he was doing. He wanted his students to interact and find their potential. Not only did he have them work with different people but they were forced to look at how they worked with other people as well. That can be the hardest thing sometimes.
Randy Pausch was one of those people that paved the way for students like me. He started and continued projects that I can only hope I get to use in my life. Those classes he taught and the technology he used is special and I am jealous that I never got to meet him. His true passion was life. He wanted to help people and chose education to do that. He used technology to show students how they can learn and how they can communicate.
I think technology is a great thing and as time moves on it becomes more and more important, especially in education. There is so much potential out there. Randy Pausch did more in his life than most people even dream of doing. I hope to become an educator who is excited like he was and maybe I will be using the technology and techniques that he started in my classroom one day. And if you haven't read the book, you should! :)

I agree with you, Allie. He was an amazing man and he touched so many peoples lives in a huge way. What I liked about him is how positive he was during the lecture. He did not want anyone to feel sorry for him.
I loved this lecture! He draws you in where you don't want to stop listening. I gathered several analogies I want to use in my classroom one day.
