blogs

Using blogs in the classroom can be beneficial in different ways. Blogs are a good way to get assignments in fast and these assignments are accessible from anywhere. The other thing that can be helpful for teachers is that is shows when the blog was posted and therefore when turning in assignments late, we as teachers can see that. Blogs are creative way to do projects or group projects. I think teacher could get creative using blogs inside their classroom.
I think a negative to using blogs in a classroom is the access. I know there are always going to be students who don't have access to a computer at home. This could be hard on the student. Especially when using them for a project, this could point out to other students that someone doesn't have access to a computer again causing stress. Blogs are creative and certainly can be fun but as teachers we need to make sure that we take in to account students situation before we give blog assignments.
Blogs are easy for teachers to grade. As a teacher being able to look at assignments online would be easy for me. It cuts down on the paper grading. I also when looking at different blogs see how easy it is to express yourself when using blogs. I really like the idea for using them for projects. It allows students to be creative in a different way. I think that students like the ease of assignments on the computer. I know I like taking quizzes online and especially when you have all week to do it; you can take it on your own time. But a teacher should be flexible and could maybe stay after with a student who doesn't have a computer at home and let them finish their assignments.
As teachers blogs have many positives and negatives. Blogs could be shown in the classroom and used as examples especially since there are so many out there. I like how it allows for freedom for the student to express themselves. The freedom for the teacher is a plus as well. Blogs can be as long or short as the teacher would like. Blogs are changing the way we are expressing ourselves in our personal life and they are certainly changing the way education works. Writing a blog could soon be a daily assignment for the students of the future.
